VISIONBreak: New Mindfulness and Creativity Exercise
Share
In our fast-paced lives, we often find ourselves racing to accomplish more—seeking focus, mindfulness, and creativity through various gadgets and tools. But what if there was a simple, enjoyable practice that could help us achieve all these goals at once?
What if I told you this exercise is even backed by science?
Do you remember when you were a kid or maybe even now when you'd lay on your back staring up into the sky? You'd watch the clouds, feeling the sunshine on your face when the shape of a cloud became a dragon. Do see faces on the moon? Have you ever taken a Rorschach test?
If so, then you have experienced a psychological phenomenon called Pareidolia. Pareidolia (pronounced par-i-DOH-lee-a) is our natural tendency to see patterns, faces, animals, or images in unexpected places, like clouds, trees, or textures. Honing in on this ability can significantly enhance creativity, imagination, and problem-solving abilities.
This phenomenon has been recognized since 1866. Today scientists at Johns Hopkins are studying this. They hypothesize that pareidolia may enhance focus, mood, creativity, imagination, and agility in problem-solving because you’re seeing things in a different way, according to Susan Magsamen, executive director of the International Arts + Mind Lab at the Pedersen Brain Science Institute in conjunction with Johns Hopkins Univerity School of Medicine.
VISIONbreak harnesses this idea to inspire creativity, focus, and problem-solving skills in everyday life through functional products, like VISIONBreak cards and gifts, like the VISIONBreak Frame and VISIONBreak Box.
This mindful practice not only sparks your imagination but also sharpens your focus and critical thinking abilities. By pausing to observe, you develop a deeper awareness of your surroundings and allow inspiration to flow freely. After starting this practice and completing some VISIONBreak cards, you may begin to explore the world around you with fresh eyes and think differently about problems.
VISIONBreak does not require you to be an artist, a scientist, or anything other than you. There are no right or wrong answers. Everyone will see something different and unique. Let’s embark on this transformational adventure together and celebrate the hidden messages all around us!
